Job Summary

To assist in the oversite of the nursing care functions in the medical practice for children with special needs and medical complexities,

Responsible for assisting the RN Manager or Director for the clinical oversight, nursing education, orientation, performance and nursing flow,

The Lead nurse provides clinical care and oversight for medical services including but not limited to patient family education, vaccine administration, point of care testing, patient triage and office evaluation,

The nurse collaborates with internal and external care providers to ensure continuum of care is delivered within a patient and family centered, team based model consistent with the values and mission of Childrens Specialized Hospital,

Essential Job Functions

Demonstrates evidence of use of nursing process to meet patient and family health care needs in the Ambulatory Care Pediatric Practice setting,

Assists the RN Manager Director in assuring all nurses at the site demonstrate the same skill and consistency in care,

Assists the RN Manager Director in ensuring consistent practices and flow within the Medical Practice including maintenance of education materials and competency and ongoing staff performance,

Assists the RN Manager Director in ensuring clinical staff coverage for site practice by identifying coverage resource and maintaining coverage calendar,

Maintains knowledge and promotes mission, vision and values of CSH,

Recognizes and respects patient and family rights in a culturally and religiously sensitive environment of care and assures nursing staff provides the same care,

Demonstrates effective communication, conflict management, interpersonal skills and team building activities,

Displays competency in obtaining and interpreting the patients behavior based upon an understanding of cognitive, biophysical, and aging processes,

Displays an understanding of the developmental needs of the patient when planning and implementing services,

Performs and manages vaccination administration, ordering, education and reporting in line with external and internal standards,

Performs and documents effective phone and live clinical triage of patients,

Performs medication refill and authorizations as needed,

Provides clinical oversight and competency for the duties of the medical assistant and prescription coordinators as needed,

Maintains required and relevant licensure and educational credits as required by external and departmental standards,
